Color is often indicated by symbolic gestures. In particular, white symbolizes oft such as purity, perfection, and eternity. In most cultures, white is also used as a symbol of the beginning, death, afterlife, and holiness. But what about the violent, noisy, unclean whites?
The video work shows the nine elements in white(sugar, cotton, rice, white clothes, Gang-gang-sul-lae, porcelain, chrysanthemum, Snow Country, The White House), the collected image footage uploaded in Instagram format, which is layered with their own dark histories behind the white surface.
This work is shown in a student-organized digital exhibition I send you this rgb (45, 116, 249). It is considered a site-specific exhibition and the work material was first sent as digital data via e-mail, then an artist talk was held via Zoom as a main part of the exhibition.
